Emirates expands pagers and walkie-talkies ban across all flights
The decision comes as part of heightened security measures in the region
Dubai: In a new travel advisory issued on Friday, Emirates airline has announced a strict ban on pagers and walkie-talkies across all flights to, from, and via Dubai.
Any such devices found in passengers' hand luggage or checked baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police.
The ban, which was initially imposed on passengers traveling through Lebanon, has now been extended to all passengers flying to and from Dubai, signaling broader concerns over regional security.
Flight suspensions continue due to unrest
In response to escalating unrest, Emirates has suspended all flights between Dubai and Lebanon until October 8. Flights to Iraq (Basra and Baghdad), Iran (Tehran), and Jordan (Amman) have also been cancelled until October 5, with the airline advising that passengers transiting through Dubai to these destinations will not be allowed to board at their points of origin until further notice.
Regional air travel disruptions
Flydubai, a budget carrier based in the UAE, resumed some flight services to Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Jordan on Friday. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, restarted flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv on Thursday, reflecting a cautious return of air services to certain conflict-affected areas.
However, Emirates has maintained a cautious approach, postponing resumption of flights to high-risk zones.
